Get To Know- Displays Part 4 (OLEDs)..!!

It's time to talk about OLEDs, (Organic Light Emitting Diode) .

As in the name it contains organic layers sandwiched between the cathode and the anode, there are two organic layers.
Emissive layer and the Conductive layer emissive layer contains electrons from cathode and the conductive layer transports holes from anode.
When current is applied cathode supplies electrons to the emissive layer and at the boundary of the the emissive and conductive layer where electrons and holes are very close electrons fill the holes and release energy in the form of light.
Color of the light depends on the emissive layer the type of organic material used. Manufacturers use several types of organic films on the same OLED to make color displays.
Intensity of light depends on the intensity of current.

There are two types of OLEDs

PMOLEDs
They have strips of cathode, organic layer and strips of anode. Anode are perpendicular to cathode and where they intersect makes a pixel. External circuitry applies current to specific strips of anode and cathode to make pictures on screen

PMOLEDs are easy to make but are suited for small size displays  like 2-3".

AMOLEDs
They have full layers or cathode organic material and anode, Anode layer overlays a thin-film transistor (TFT) that form a matrix. The TFT array itself is the curcuitry that determines which pixel gets current.

They require even less power than PMOLEDs efficient for large displays and have faster refresh rate that PMOLEDs.

OLEDs have way more advantages than any other displays.

Pros
1. They are flexible and can even roll allowing devices to be more flexible and handle more stress.
2. They require way less power providing more efficient battery backup.
3. Better viewing angles.
4. OLED displays can show true blacks and really saturated colors.

Cons
1. Because they are organic they don't have long life span and can easily be damaged by water.

OLEDs can be transparent and really thin which I hope can help to make a phone like Tony stark's in iron man and make Google glass more like normal glasses
According to me OLEDs are the future of displays they have so much potential and can be used in a lot of different ways .

Moto X, Moto G, Moto 360....!!!

Motorola unveiled the new generation of  Moto X and Moto G and they are not named Moto X+1 or Moto X2, it's just Moto X 2nd generation. Motorola announced and made it available to buy on the same day. in the US along with the Moto 360 , But they have also arrived in Europe and Flipkart is going to make it available on the night of 5 sept which is today.

Moto X will be available in leather back and metal strip on the sides also the wooden and plastic back like the previous Moto X.
