This is a short Get To Know. and from short i mean really really short.. because there is not much to explain about Anti-Aliasing. some of might be reading about this and for the first time some you may have heard the name before but don't know what it does?..or How it does what ever it does?
so with out any further due let's start this Get To Know..
Anti Aliasing refers to the technology that removes jaggys or staircase effect from your video games in real time..making them appear more smooth than they were before..
Where do jaggys or the staircase effect comes from?well, computer screens are made up of tiny squares called pixels where as real objects have rounded corners.. when you make a horizontal or vertical line with the pixels the end up making a nice straight and smooth line, but what happens when you try to make a diagonal or any kind of curve.. you will see rough stair like boundaries..that looks quiet unappealing.. anti-aliasing removes these effects
There are a wide variety of different kinds Anti-Aliasing the most basic being the MSAA and FXAA but they actually work in the same way..what they they do is they see a gap or a stair they make sample of the pixels that the stairs are made of and fill the gap with that sample but in a light shade of that color of the pixel...
You can always increase the resolution to suit to the screen and be more pleasing to your eye , but in some case for low spec PCs that is not an option low spec PCs cannot handle high resolution the game will start to lag, and in that case Anti -Aliasing is the best option for you..
Peace...
