| Best Update ever...!!! |
- Dailer- most of us forget that ultimately the smartphones out there were originally designed to place and receive phone calls so the dailer is improved in 4.4 both in functionality and design..
it organizes the most frequently dailed contacts up at the top, nice and clean , there is a search box up at the contacts app ,so you just have to type the name and it'll search any contact with that name..but if you want to search a local business or a place that's near you ,you can type coffee and it'll tell you all the places near to you that serves coffee.. like "Star bucks" - NFC mimicking or HCE (Host Card Emulation)some people think that HCE can do all the things that a NFC enabled device can do and you don't even need a chip but that's not true.. HCE emulates the secure elements in NFC transactions .you still need a NFC chip to use it..
i wrote a post of all the things you can do with NFC check it here-http://shekhar087tech.blogspot.in/2014/01/get-to-know-top-five-nfc-features.html - Design update and this is all about the looks here ,Kitkat has changed a lot of things here that we have gotten used to since Android 4.0 the hollow blue accents but now they are lot flatter and a lot simpler ..most noticeable is the transparency of the buttons along the bottom and the notification bar up top,and the grey ,time and battery icon ,also slightly adjusted font in this update..
All the stock apps are up date with Android they all have the new clean design to them ,even the touch responsiveness of the buttons is better it's more subtle.
it brings album art on you lock screen when you are listening to music ,and there is are apps that take over your full screen and hide the notification and navigation bar and immerses you into this new immersion mode that's what they call it..and brand new to stock Android you can now swipe down while you are running an app or game to see the notifications.. over all there is more cleaner and subtle look .. that i really like a lot.. - Stream line performance ,now they are not just giving you the new update they are facilitating it to any possible phone with now so high specs by seriously lowering the system requirements, and this is a really big deal , cause usually when you come from an older version of OS to a newer version the system requirements naturally get bumped up because technology moves forward , but the 4.4 version of Android will run more efficient, more faster ,more smooth ,more responsive to devices with low specs.. as little as 5GB of RAM..
the OS itself is much more memory efficient and they have stream lined major components of Android so the whole thing including multitasking will be more smooth , that they have installed new API's to help developers make great apps that will run smooth on way more devices ,, this kind of makes specs even important than they were before..
there is a new built in setting called process stats , you know how you can see how much storage every app was using on your device , this app will do the same thing but with the RAM so you can tell how much each app is using your RAM.
Google said that "Kitkat bring all Android most beautiful and useful features to more devices everywhere" check it here-http://developer.android.com/about/versions/kitkat.html - Google search and Google Now, smarter every where first of all on the home screen you can swipe all the way to left and get to Google Now which is very convenient similar to the way that global search was on iOS6 and also you can still swipe up from the bottom to also get to Google Now , and on the Snapdragon 800 Nexus 5 you are going to be able to just start saying "Ok Google"and anything you want to search ..
there are ton more improvements with the card and and new optimizations in Google Now , i think Google Now is one of the best products of 2012 and it seems like Google realizes how important and unique and great product this is and they are putting a lot of effort into making this even better .and is has so much potential so the more Google develops this i am going to Blog about how great it is because i just love it.. - The hangouts app is getting sms and mms support so this is going to be the default messaging app , it'll be in your dock you are going to see a lot more of hangouts and i like that too because the previous messaging app was not that great ...
the new sms API it sounds boring but once you realize how great it is you are going to love it..usually before when you want to set a third party app as you default messaging app .. you have to disable the notifications in one and enable the notification in the other to fully switch over , it is going to take one click now with the Android 4.4 ,and it'll literally be sending all you notification to that .so if you don't like Hangout you can use any other messaging app ..with only one click.. - The new keyboard there are going to be Emoji's every where you use the the key board, you can print anything almost anywhere with 4.4 ..the new downloads app which is much more organized and Kitkat will now support Pedometers ,IR blaster and and all sorts other low powered sensors , also when you get a call from a number that Google sees in maps is a local business it'll do an image search and find a relevant image along with the name , so even if you don't have that business in your contacts you still know where the call is coming from..
That's all , tell me your thoughts about the 4.4 update in the comments section down below...
Peace..
