Remember Ubuntu OS , we have Blackberry ,iOS , Android, Ubuntu OS is kind of the new player in the market and we first got to see it in action at CES in January of the last year 2013. It's basically a new smartphone operation system with lot of unique features that other smartphone OS doesn't have at all ..

Ubuntu Edge is the newest thing that has all the people asking questions like is this legit? is this as awesome as it looks ? is this what i think it is? but i am here to answer all those question so with out any further due let's start our..Get To Know..

There are three main things two you should know about Ubuntu Edge to really understand it..

Sapphire glass..

1. This is a crowd funding project to make this piece of device happen ..Canonical is the company in charge of this ,trying to make it happen ion the form of Indiegogo campaign .they are asking for $32Million to make it happen but when you think about it it's not a lot of money when you compare it to costs of other smart phone OS and the device they are making is going to be a limited edition. so the first link in the end of the Get To Know is for that page but sadly you cannot donate now the time left has expired long ago it was a 30 day campaign .. 
2. The specs of the device they are making , it is supposed to have a 4.5inch display 720p covered with a sheet of Sapphire crystal instead of traditional glass ,it also have a camera on the back similar to the HTC One's and it is optimized for low light photography and fast shooting.sounds like HTC One's camera coming out around 4 or 8 MP they also quoted the fastest multi core chip available..which will probably be an 8core chip and they are also looking for 4GB of RAM and 128GB of flash storage ..DAMN..!!! those 3 things are just nuts..Also dual LTE antenna for 4G in Europe ans USA ,and a slightly new Silicon anode battery technology which will hopefully be a very long lasting battery ..in this Beast of a Phone And it will dual boot Android and Ubuntu ..
   
   So why all this crazy specs and ridiculous numbers on paper ,Well consider this, the idea of an Ubuntu phone is when you are holding it in your hand or it is your pocket it will run a normal phone operating system like Android and you won't be able to tell the difference but once you plug it in or basically dock it in a display a keyboard and a mouse it'll start running a full desktop operating system ,so a full fledged desktop non stripped down experience ,That is obviously going to take a ridiculous spec sheet to be able to run it on a desktop..
   
   This hardware also looks gorgeous just drop dead gorgeous,beautiful,sexy ,and did i mentioned gorgeous?they have mostly 3D dummies at the moment but when you lok at the campaign page the prototype is made ..but when you actually look at this ,It's very very clean the idea on clean lines and the edge ,it will be crafted from a single piece of metal awesome shape for this high-end build quality ,ans of front you can is edge to edge sapphire crystal to make Ubuntu OS gestures muck easier while dragging you fingers over multiple things, the angles of the device and the way that corners look , You can see where they got the name"Edge"    ..
3. How does this actually works? how do you have a device that runs both Android and Ubuntu both ?how do you have something that has two different operating systems on it that work with each other and talk to each other? the answer is that Canonical has come up with something they are calling "Convergence" .It is basically Android and Ubuntu OS being able to talk to each other but to show it to us they don't have an Ubuntu phone they used a lower spec device they used a Nexus 4 and basically when they plugged in the Nexus 4 it was running Ubuntu OS for the desktop and since these two operating systems are talking to each other so anything that you have on your phone you can also find on the desktop you can use the contacts app in Ubuntu and start searching for contacts on your phone the music on Ubuntu will search for music in your Android Phone and you can also use the dailer app on the desktop to make and receive phone calls , its a really nice concept ..

so what is the point of all this ?what is the purpose of making a high-end device that running Ubuntu OS.. you can consider the Ubuntu Edge the Nexus of Ubuntu OS they are using this project to make a limited edition high-end phone that is the blend of experience of what the experience should be ,when your are using this operating system ..
this is not meant to be an iPhone rival or to be popular it is not going to sell well and this is limited edition it is only for enthusiast it is only for the people that are supporting the project ..
It was supposed to be a high-end smart phone a limited edition device running two operating systems..but
This project did not complete it's goal because they were not able to get $32million but may be just may they could some how build a prototype they can reach there goal may be next time...
